Please find optional reading for the courses below. This is reading for enjoyment – yet it may add considerably to your experience of the course. Also check out audio meditations:

 

Mindfulness for Grounding and Resilience:

The course book (for optional background reading) are selected chapters from: Mindfulness: A Practical Guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World by mark Williams and Danny Penman (Piatkus, 2011).  (Note: Discounted copies on offer to our students at Heffers for £10.00 by showing your student card.)

Suggested reading: Chapters 1-4 (prior to the course, if possible), Chapter 5 (Week 1), Chapter 6 (Week 2), skip forward to Chapter 11 (Week 3) and hop back to Chapter 8 (Week 4).

Mindfulness for Confidence and Self-Compassion

The course book (for optional background reading) are selected chapters from: Mindfulness: A Practical Guide to Finding Peace in a Frantic World by Mark Williams and Danny Penman (Piatkus, 2011).  (Note: Discounted copies on offer to our students at Heffers for £10.00 by showing your student card.)

Suggested reading: Chapters 1-4 (prior to the course, if possible), skip forward to Chapter 10 (Week 1), hop back to Chapter 7 (Week 2), jump to Chapter 9 (Week 3) and beatle off to Chapter 12 (Week 4).

 

Mindfulness for Better Sleep

 I recommend, Why We Sleep, by Matthew Walker (2017, Penguin). Some chapters are available free on Kindle: free on Kindle app.

An approachable and creative ‘easy read’ on meditation by Cambridge University mindfulness teacher, Elizabeth English:  Journeys to the Deep: A Gentle Guide to Mindfulness Meditation
