Better Sleep Workshop
Combining current sleep research with mindful practices, this course opens new pathways to quality sleep at night, and teaches you how to nap effectively in the day (power naps and more). Mindful exercises help embed healthy sleep patterns, creating the best conditions for refreshing rest and sleep. We also explore on what gets in the way, and how our daytime choices affect our ability to rest at night.

Mindful Memory Booster Workshop
This workshop focuses on what you can do to improve your memory: your ability to absorb and make sense of facts. We learn a mindful practice which helps you nap (which can increase memory retention by 20%), and which leaves you feeling refreshed and energised. We also explore the effects on the nervous system of empathy and connection, and how this increases our capacity to absorb and retain information.

Mindfulness in Nature Workshop
An hour well-spent in a garden or green space, where I introduce participants to different aspects of mindfulness with brief talks (just a few minutes) interspersed with mindful rambles in the beauties of nature. Focusing on different body senses, these walks are very relaxing and enjoyable, and open you up to life in new and magical ways.

Mindful Laughter Workshop
This is an invigorating and cathartic approach to stress-release. From a gentle start, exercises build towards the health-giving tonic of belly-laughter. A playful session that raises the spirits, boosts energy and ignites motivation, laughter also increases the brain’s capacity for memory and learning. It is also known to calm frayed nerves, reduce anxiety and increase social connectivity, and there is a deep wisdom in laughter’s innate perspective on life (‘if you can laugh later, you can laugh now’). Adding skilful mindful perspectives, laughter exercises build confidence in facing one’s fears. While the workshops stimulate energy, they end with quiet time which I have found to evoke deep silence and relaxation.

Meet a Mindful Dog
My own dog (black cocker spaniel, Cherub) has been raised with mindful ideas in mind. As a result, Cherub is extra calm and cuddly, and loves to play with friendly people. I describe my approaches to mindful dog handling based on Positive Dog Training, and explore what we (as non-canines) can learn from this approach. I designed and developed these research-led mindfulness courses at Cambridge University as the basis for a large-scale research trial, with outstandingly positive results published in The Lancet. The four-week format proves particularly effective, delivered in person or online.
