I designed and developed these research-led mindfulness courses at Cambridge University as the basis for a large-scale research trial, with outstandingly positive results published in The Lancet. The four-week format proves particularly effective, delivered in person or online.
I can also present these themes as one-off workshops.

“The course really made a huge impact on me and I can’t thank you enough for that.”
Mindfulness for Grounding and Resilience
(4-week course)
Mindful practice calms and refreshes you through the day. This course teaches a range of different approaches to suit individual temperaments. Participants learn to track their nervous system responses to stressful situations and become skilled in self-regulation, increasingly able to access refreshed and energised states of body and mind. This builds resilience, and the ability to stay calm and grounded under pressure.

Mindfulness for Confidence and Self-Compassion
(4-week course)
Mindfulness calms the heart, as much as the mind. This course charts a pathway to positive emotions, building trusted inner resources which lay the bedrock for happiness and enjoyment. Participants also discover their own best routes to compassion for self and others, growing in friendliness and empathy. Lasting confidence comes from that.

“Incredibly beneficial to my emotional & mental wellbeing.”
Mindfulness for Focus and Energy
(4-week course)
Harnessing the power of mindful choices to make productive decisions, this course extends one of the most popular mindful topics. Tackling the bugbear of procrastination and indecision, it supports a focused and balanced lifestyle, for study, work and leisure, and builds confidence and healthy pride in the choices we make each day.

Mindfulness for Better Sleep
(4-week course)
Combining current sleep research with mindful practices, this course teaches pathways to good quality sleep. Expanding on vital research in mindfulness, participants build healthy sleep patterns, and ‘re-discover’ refreshing sleep at night. We also focus on what ‘gets in the way’ of good sleep, and how our daytime choices affect our ability to rest at night.

“Much more choice and agency in relationships with everybody including colleagues, family, friends and intimate partners.”
“I have seen the astonishing results at first hand: de-escalating violent altercations, rebuilding trust in desperate situations, finding freshness in stale conversations. The list goes on.”
Mindful Communication
Mindful communication fosters the skills you need to sustain trust and forge positive relationships. With mindful awareness, you have many more possibilities, so you can communicate with greater freedom and ease. As common worries and social anxieties fade, you find yourself making more creative choices. You can converse calmly, clearly and kindly, even under stress. You learn to stand your ground with confidence, drawing on ever deeper wells of empathy and understanding. Knowing how to manage arguments and resolve conflict, you experience the magic of harmony.
For this course, I weave together Mindfulness, Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and Focusing.

Mindfulness Workshops
Mindfulness workshops are suitable for colleges, organisations and groups. They are calming, nourishing and enjoyable, and add value by offering insights and exercises to take away.
Mindful Laughter Workshop
Drawing on the internationally famous ‘Laughter Yoga’, this is a wonderful high-energy workshop, with playful exercises and the tonic of long, loud belly-laughter. It raises the spirits, boosts energy and ignites motivation. Laughter also increases the brain’s capacity for memory and learning. Above all, fun and laughter are known to calm frayed nerves, reduce anxiety and increase social connectivity. There is also a deep wisdom in laughter’s innate perspective on life (‘if you can laugh later, you can laugh now’). Adding skilful mindful perspectives, laughter exercises build confidence in facing one’s fears. While the workshops are tremendous fun, they end with quiet time which I have found to evoke profound silence and bone-deep relaxation.

Mindfulness in Nature
An hour well-spent in a garden or green space, where I introduce participants to different aspects of mindfulness with brief talks (just a few minutes) interspersed with mindful rambles in the beauties of nature. Focusing on different body senses, these walks are very relaxing and enjoyable, and open you up to life in new and magical ways.

Mindful Memory Booster
This Mindfulness workshop focuses on what you can do to improve your memory: your ability to absorb and make sense of facts. We learn a mindful practice which helps you sleep well (which can increase memory retention by 20%), and which leaves you feeling refreshed and energised. We also explore the effects on the nervous system of empathy and connection, and how this increases our capacity to absorb and retain information.

Meet a Mindful Dog
My own dog (black cocker spaniel, Cherub) has been raised with mindful ideas in mind. As a result, Cherub is extra calm and cuddly, and loves to play with friendly people. I describe my approaches to mindful dog handling based on Positive Dog Training, and explore what we (as non-canines) can learn from this approach. To meet Cherub in advance, check her out on YouTube: The Mindful Puppy Diaries
